The Holy Templist Ministries – H.T.M
The Chaplaincy is a global body of sheiks, ministers, and adepts who are the successors of the holy prophets, spiritual guides, saints, divine ministers, and apostles. They are the adept ones who have gone a long journey of a short path to attain the Holy Keys of Nun and the highest form of the priesthood as wiseman & women and they comprise the adept pastors, ministers, and spiritual guides of the Church (Temple) or rather are the Church (Temple) representation guided by the Holy Prophet. Primarily a adept priest controls the temple ordinaries and they gather on a regular basis to discuss current issues. The Holy Liturgy or certain decisions of the Church (Temple) are an exclusive agenda of these temple meetings and gatherings in the Holy House. The sheiks, priests, saints, and guides are normally ordained by at least three adepts, though only a single validity is good enough. Temple ranks are distinguished Holy Orders amongst the Patrons, Ministers, and Reverends who are disciples, our Holy Prophet Noble Drew Ali, Neter Amunnubi our Great Deity reincarnated, and the current Pharaoh Djihutimaat Shu Atun Re is the head World Chaplain.
The Patrons
Patrons (Patriarchs and Matriarchs) are the civilians of particular autonomous churches (Temples) in turn consist of local churches (Temples) under their periphery. They have complete authority as the subordinate adept priest over the metropolitans of that particular church (Temple).
The Reverends
They are the princes and princesses of the Church (Temple) and are appointed by the Pharaoh (Grand Sheik) himself or herself. Generally, they are the adepts heading departments of important districts of sees (realms and dominions) and as a group, they advise the Pharaoh and are also eligible to elect the Pharaoh’s successor in case of his or her death or resignation. The Reverend is more of an honorific distinction and is an essential part of the noologocial structure of the Holy World Church (Temple).
Missionaries
A church (Temple) composed of several missionaries has a Sheik as their Priest who is called a Missionary. He or she gets the sacred robe (Holy Mantle), royal crown (Holy Crown), and the imperial sceptre (Holy Staff) from the Pharaoh symbolizing his or her office. With limited oversight authority, this Missionary is also known as a High Priest, Divine Minister, and or Spiritual Guide.

In the transitional stage, he or she is a adept seminarian and is studying for the priesthood in the Holy Orders and he or she normally assists a priest or sheik. As adepts we are the original Kohanim which refer to the Holy Family of Nations as a whole, as in Exodus 19:6, part of the Parshath Yithro, where the whole of Israel is addressed as “a kingdom of priests and a holy nation”. The word derives from a Semitic root common at least to the Central Semitic languages; the cognate Arabic word كاهن Kahin means, augur”, or “priest”.

All Governors and Grand Sheiks and head officials that guide any body of Moors of any Temple of the Moorish Science Temple of America:
He or she must be of good moral standard and a heart of love and their works must be of Love, Truth, Peace, Freedom and Justice. They are to imitate the Prophet in speech and teaching in any said Temple. They must not be under the influence of intoxicating liquors or any other harmful motive that will terminate to become detrimental to the organization. It must not be known that any leader is staying away from home or neglecting his or her duty at home or must allow the public to know of their wrong doings. They must forever live the life of Love at home and it must, be known by all the members. They must not speak rash words nor any profane language in the mildest form to any other individual because a leader without influence of good works cannot be a leader, and to be a real Moorish leader you must study the Koran and the Divine Constitution that is handed down unto you by I, the Prophet.
No finance business is to be opened with any group of members of any Temple, by the Governor or Grand Sheik or whosoever in charge without the consultation of I, the Prophet. All uplifting funds, books, are to be issued only through I, the Prophet, because that money is to finance the Moorish Movement.
The head of any Temple can maintain an emergency fund which cannot exceed the amount of from 25 cents to 50 cents a week per member. All public collections and dues also to the supporting of each said Temple and its domestic work.
No finance books are to be served in any Temple except by the Prophet. The head of every Temple must by law obey the word of the Prophet, and if any leader or head of any Temple fails to obey these laws – embezzlement is his charge, and is subject to enforcement of the law by the Grand Body. And the penalty may be a fine or a removal from office, or placed under a very heavy restriction of the law.

What is Nationality?
A group of people who share a common origin, tradition and language and are actually capable of forming or constituting a Nation-State.
Why do you need Nationality?
1. Nationality determines your political status in this government.
2. Nationality ties you to your forefathers.
3. Nationality enables you to claim your birthright.
4. Claiming your Nationality puts you in compliance with the Constitutional Standard of Law by Name.
5. When Moorish Americans claim their Nationality, they are then able to practice the Divine Creed of their Forefathers which causes them to adhere to the five Divine Principles of Love Truth Peace Freedom, and Justice and become law-abiding Citizens of the said Government.

THE MOORISH SCIENCE TEMPLE OF AMERICA
The Moorish Science Temple of America was founded by the Prophet Noble Drew Ali. Aside from the fact that it is a legally organized religious corporation, It is building on human needs. To this desirable end, in time legitimate means will be found to dispense charity and provide for the mutual assistance of its members in times of distress; to aid in the improvement of health and to encourage the ownership of better homes; to find employment for our members; to teach those fundamental principles which are desired for our civilization such as obedience to law, respect and loyalty to government, tolerance and unity.
It is most earnestly hoped that the Moorish Science Temple of America, will not in any way be confused with any “Back to Africa Movement.” Such is not important insofar as American citizens of our group colonizing Africa are concerned.
We, of the Moorish Science Temple of America, like countless other American citizens, know that we must live together here in America in harmony, friendship and goodwill, whatever our race and creed may be. It is only from a purely religious standpoint that we differ from a large number of our fellow Americans. We believe in, and foster the Moslem religion. We believe in the principles of its teachings insofar they can be adopted to American life. We feel that the Christian religion is alright for those who prefer it. In America, religious freedom is guaranteed all under the constitution.
We are Interested in freeing ourselves and our children, from the greatest plight- economic slavery. We believe this can be best done by encouraging, patronizing and establishing our own business enterprises and cultivating our own acres of land.
We welcome into our folds men and women of our group of all sections, all trades, occupations and professions of sound mind and good character.
We are friends and servants of humanity. We are dedicated to the purpose of elevating the moral, social, and economic status of our people. We have set about to do this through a wide and comprehensive program embodying the principles of love, truth, peace, freedom, and justice.
I hope this brief statement will help you clearly see the duty and wisdom of upholding those fundamental principles which are desired for our civilization and our posterity, such as obedience to law, respect and loyalty to government, tolerance, and unity.
We organized as the Moorish Temple of Science in the year of 1925, and were legally incorporated as a civic organization under the laws of the State of Illinois, November 29th, 1926. The name Moorish Temple of Science changed to the Moorish Science Temple of America, May 1928, in accordance with the legal requirements of the Secretary of the State of Illinois.
The object of our Organization is to help in the great program of uplifting fallen humanity and teach those things necessary to make our members better citizens.
A National organization with a Rotarian complexion as it relates to branch Temples became obvious with the increasing number of inquiries from men and women in different sections of the country concerning the purpose of the organization. There are branch Temples in fifteen (15) different states at our peak, in the late-1920’s.
Our Lineage
As a result of our succession plan, there is an unbroken chain of appointments (lineage, or Silsila) which began with Prophet Noble Drew Ali appointing Bro. Lomax Bey as the first Grand Sheik and Chairman of the MSTA. Subsequently, Bro. Edward Mealy El was the first person appointed to the station of “Assistant Grand Sheik of the MSTA. Shortly thereafter, the prophet removed Lomax Bey, and Bro. Edward Mealy El succeeded him to become the second Grand Sheik and Chairman of the MSTA.
However, during our first Convention (Oct. 1928), Prophet Noble Drew Ali established the Supreme Grand Council. Bro. Edward Mealy El was the first Grand Sheik & Chairman to be appointed as the Supreme Grand Sheik of the Supreme Grand Council. From that point forward, every successive Grand Sheik & Chairman of the MSTA has held the power to appoint a Supreme Grand Council and preside over it by the title of Supreme Grand Sheik.
The “Grand Body” is our executive, legislative, and judicial branch of governance. It is composed of the Holy Prophet, the Supreme Grand Sheiks, and adepts, local Grand Sheiks, and adepts from of each our Subordinate Temples, as well as the local Chairman & Governors that oversee all temples within their respective state. Act 1 of our Divine Constitution charges them to help “…make and enforce law“. They do this by representing the interests of their own temple and membership at convention assembled. Since the MSTA has a “Rotarian complexion“, each subordinate temple has the same structure as our Grand-Major Temple, and the heads of each Temple also bear the title “Grand Sheik” and “Assistant Grand Sheik”.
All authority and power of the Moorish Science Temple of America is vested in the Prophet Noble Drew Ali and those whom he appoints to act as in the Supreme Body… All officers and members of the Moorish Science Temple of America and such rules and regulations of the constitution shall be in writing and not at variance with any law of the city, town or nation which the prophet shall declare a law.” —“Prophet Announces his Authority & Power” Moorish Guide Newspaper Article, Jan 15th 1928.
There is no favorite in any of the temples, for the Law is laid down and everyone who claims a part of the work must be governed accordingly. ALL are one. There is but one Temple in this Nation and there is but one Prophet of the Temples. — A WARNING FROM THE PROPHET
Therefore, our constitutional power to make and enforce law is actually traced through our lineage of succession to the station of Grand Sheik & Chairman of the MSTA — which survives today through our current Supreme Grand Sheik & Chairman — by virtue of the following lineage:

Since the work of the Moorish Science Temple of America was largely religious, the organization has been legally changed to a religious corporation and an affidavit to this effect has been properly filed in the Cook County Recorders office in Illinois. ADDITIONAL LAWS, ACT 1. — Grand Sheiks, and Governors and heads of all Temples, all Businesses: Each said Temple must be approved by the Prophet Noble Drew Ali… Any former officer that violates these laws is subject to be removed from his office under a heavy restriction, etc., by the Prophet or the Grand Sheik.
Holy Koran Circle Seven
Drew Ali reported that during his travels, he met with a high priest of Egyptian magic. In one version of Drew Ali’s biography, the leader saw him as a reincarnation of the founder. In others, he says that the priest considered him a reincarnation of Jesus, the Buddha, Muhammad and other religious prophets. According to the biography, the high priest trained Ali in mysticism and gave him a “lost section” of the Quran. This text came to be known as the Holy Koran of the Moorish Science Temple of America. It is also known as the “Circle Seven Koran” because of its cover, which features a red “7” surrounded by a blue circle.

As Drew Ali began his version of teaching the Moorish-Americans to become better citizens, he made speeches like, “A Divine Warning By the Prophet for the Nations”, in which he urged them to reject derogatory labels, such as “Black”, “colored”, and “Negro”. He urged Americans of all races to reject hate and embrace love. He believed that Chicago would become a second Mecca.

The World Professor instructed followers not to be confrontational but to build up their people to be respected. In this way, they might take their place in the United States of America by developing a cultural identity that was congruent with Drew Ali’s beliefs on personhood.

The Hierophant of the Moorish Science Temple and the Sacred Tradition of the Hierophant’s Ring
In the Moorish Science Temple, the Hierophant is the supreme spiritual authority, fulfilling a role similar to that of a bishop in the Catholic Church. Just as bishops are consecrated with a sacred ring, the Moorish Templist Hierophant receives the Hierophant’s Ring, a powerful symbol of divine authority, spiritual wisdom, and sacred governance.
The Symbolism and Tradition of the Hierophant’s Ring
Throughout history, rings have served as symbols of divine power, succession, and sacred duty. From the High Priests of Ancient Kemet to the Bishops of the Roman Church, these rings represent the wearer’s covenant with the divine and responsibility over their spiritual flock.
For the Moorish Science Temple, the Hierophant’s Ring follows this ancient tradition, with distinctions that align with the sacred sciences and exoteric, esoteric, and neoteric wisdom of the Moors.
- Material and Stone:
- Roman Catholic Bishops traditionally receive rings set with Amethyst, a stone representing wisdom and divine connection.
- Moorish Templist Hierophants, however, receive a seal ring set with the ancient urim breastplate of the Levite priest or a single Carnelian, a sacred stone associated with Kemetic (Egyptian) priesthood, divine rulership, and protection.
- Carnelian was worn by the Pharaohs of Kemet, the High Priests of Amen-Ra, and the Prophet Muhammad, symbolizing spiritual enlightenment and divine truth.
- Carnelian was carried by the Ancient Seer called the Ebenezer Stone.

PROPHET MAKES A PLEA TO NATION
Our Divine and National Movement stands for the specific grand principles of Love, Truth, Peace, Freedom, and Justice, and I, The Prophet, am applying to all loyal, faithful Moors, members, and the American citizens to help me in my great uplifting acts of uplifting fallen humanity among the Asiaitic race and nation, for I have suffered much and severely in the past through misunderstanding of what the movement was dedicated to.
It is the Great God Allah, alone that guides the destiny of this Divine and National Movement.
