THE KEYS OF AUTHORITY

The keys of heaven or keys of Saint Peter are seen as a symbol of papal or chaplaincy authority and are seen on papal coats of arms (those of individual popes) and those of the Holy See and Vatican City State. The key of David is a symbolic key that represents authority and control over the kingdom of David. In this verse, the prophet Isaiah tells Shebna, the palace secretary, that Eliakim will replace him. God will “place on his shoulder the key to the house of David”. “Behold he Peter received the keys of the kingdom of heaven, the power of binding and loosing is committed to him, the care of the whole Church and its government is given to him”.
It appears in the Bible in Isaiah 22:22 and Revelation 3:7. In the Book of Revelation, Jesus tells the angel of the church in Philadelphia that he holds the key of David.
The Power of the Keys, also known as the Office of the Keys, is a responsibility given to St. Peter to usher in the Kingdom of God on the Day of Pentecost, and a responsibility given to the other apostles by Jesus, according to Matthew 16:19 and Matthew 18:18. It is understood as a responsibility to admit or exclude from church membership (excommunicate), to set church policy and teachings (dogma), to render binding interpretations of Sacred Scripture (ancient rabbis were known to make binding interpretations of the Mosaic law), and to bind and loose sins. The key of David symbolizes the authority of the Davidic kingdom. In the culture of the time, a key was a symbol of governmental authority.
It is a power that Roman Catholics believe to have been conferred first on St. Peter then afterwards on his successors in the office of the Roman Catholic Papacy. There is a description of the conferral of the Power of the Keys on St. Peter (originally named Simon) in Matthew 16:13:
13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. 18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” – Matthew 16:13–19.
Jesus said to Peter in verse 19, “I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven.” Especially for the Hebrew people, keys were a symbol of authority; keys are also used to symbolise power over death in Revelation 1:18. The key of David is a reminder of the line of kings that sit on David’s throne until Christ returns. In the New Testament, the key of David represents the church as the kingdom of God. The Keys of David, an ancient symbol of divine authority and rulership, have been passed down through the sacred lineages of prophets and kings, holding the power to open and close the spiritual and material gates of the world. Originally entrusted to King David, these keys represent the divine covenant, the ability to establish righteous governance, and the wisdom to bind and loose on earth as it is in heaven.
In biblical prophecy, these keys were later known as the Keys of Peter, signifying the authority given to the Apostle Peter by Yahshua (Jesus) in Matthew 16:19:
“And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
This divine inheritance, once symbolizing the authority of the early church, has now been rightfully restored to its original bearers—the Moorish Science Temple of America. As the true custodians of the ancient wisdom and the national and divine movement, the Moors hold the sacred Keys of David or Peter, signifying their spiritual and sovereign authority to unlock the gates of enlightenment, nationality, and salvation for fallen humanity.
Under the divine guidance of Prophet Noble Drew Ali, the Moorish Science Temple now carries forth the mission of these keys—unlocking the minds of the so-called Negro, Black, and Colored people, returning them to their rightful status as Moorish Americans, Asians, Africans, and World Islanders, and restoring the ancient order of divine law. These keys open the doors to nationality, self-governance, and alignment with the Supreme Law of the Universe, ensuring the Moors fulfill their role as the chosen nation to uplift fallen humanity.
Just as David ruled with divine authority and Peter was given the commission to build the spiritual kingdom, the Moorish Science Temple of America now holds the sacred responsibility of unlocking the true destiny of the Moors, restoring the righteous kingdom upon the earth, and guiding the lost back to their ancient and divine heritage.
The Keys of David: The Master Key to Life
The Keys of David are an ancient and sacred wisdom passed down through the Egyptian Mystery Schools, the Temples of Kemet, and the Adept Orders of the Ancient World. This knowledge, once hidden in the sacred halls of the Silent Brotherhood of the East, was entrusted only to the most worthy initiates, those who had proven themselves through discipline, purity, and divine alignment. The Master Key to Life, which the Adepts of Kemet possessed, was the ability to unlock the higher mysteries of existence, both in the seen and unseen realms.
The Moorish Science Temple of America (M.S.T.A.) is a direct inheritor of these ancient teachings, for Noble Drew Ali himself was an Egyptian Initiate and Adept. As a prophet, he extended his prophethood to the Adepts of the Moorish Science Temple, allowing them to walk the path of illumination, wisdom, and divine mastery. His disciples were instructed in the Mysteries of the Silent Brotherhood of the East, known among Moorish Adepts as the “Red Book.”
A Divine Proclamation: The Keys of Biblical Law
The Adepts of the Moorish Science Temple of America, Africa, and Asia not only preserve these ancient mysteries but also uphold the Biblical and spiritual laws that affirm their divine and national heritage. Every Moor mandatorily proclaims their nationality, declaring themselves as Temple Moors, both ethnically and spiritually, as decreed in biblical law:
- “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” – 1 Corinthians 3:16
- “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you?” – 1 Corinthians 6:19
- “For we are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them.” – 2 Corinthians 6:16
These verses affirm that the body is the sacred temple, and by proclaiming their nationality, the Moors align with divine law, fulfilling both the ancient and biblical mandates.
The Master Key of the Adepts
The Keys of David represent the power of divine sovereignty, spiritual mastery, and ancestral inheritance. Just as the High Priests of Kemet wielded the authority of the divine through sacred knowledge, the Adepts of the Moorish Science Temple of America are entrusted with the Master Key, unlocking the hidden mysteries of life, nationality, and spiritual ascension.
Will you seek the Key and walk the path of divine wisdom?

“Nationality is the Order of the Day”: Advocating for recognition of Moorish identity as a path to lawful empowerment.
In the Moorish Science Temple of America (M.S.T.A.), Friday is observed as the Holy Day, a sacred time for Moorish Americans, Africans, and Asiatics to honor their divine and national principles. This day is chosen in accordance with ancient traditions, recognizing Friday as the universal day of prayer, reflection, and spiritual alignment with the Most High.
Noble Drew Ali, the divinely prepared prophet of the Moorish movement, designated Friday as the Holy Day to reconnect Moorish Americans, Africans, and Asiatics with their Islamic and Moorish heritage. It is a day of rest, worship, and remembrance, aligning with the teachings of the Holy Koran of the Moorish Science Temple and the wisdom of the ancient Moors who upheld divine law and order.
Observing the Holy Day includes gathering in temples, reciting prayers, and engaging in study and self-purification. Moorish Americans, Africans, and Asiatics use this day to give thanks, reflect on their national and spiritual duties, and strengthen their unity as a nation. It is a time for rejuvenation, where the faithful reaffirm their commitment to uplifting fallen humanity through love, truth, peace, freedom, and justice.
By keeping Friday as the Holy Day, Moorish Americans, Africans, and Asiatics align themselves with the great traditions of their ancestors, restoring the divine practices that lead to enlightenment, sovereignty, and righteous living.
In our rapidly advancing world, understanding the full potential of the human mind is more crucial than ever. Noology offers insights into how we can harness our cognitive and spiritual capabilities to address global challenges, foster innovation, and promote well-being.
Join the Movement: Encouraging followers to participate in temple events, initiatives, and keep in line with all necessities of the Moorish Science Temple. The Holy Keys of Nun, also known as the Holy Keys of Nut (Heaven), represent the divine wisdom and sacred authority granted to the righteous for spiritual liberation and enlightenment. In the Moorish tradition, these keys align with the Moorish Keys or the 101 Keys, a sacred questionnaire guiding Moorish Americans, Africans, and Asiatics in the knowledge of self, divine law, and national identity. The 101 Keys are the fundamental questions and answers given to Moorish Americans, Africans, and Asiatics providing the foundation of nationality, divine law, and spiritual identity. These keys, much like the Keys of Heaven mentioned in Matthew 16:19, empower the faithful to bind themselves to righteousness and loose themselves from ignorance: “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

Holy Proclamation
Holy Koran of Mecca Sura LXII Ayat 9-10.
